Our Burning Man camp, Deaf Granny's Kitchen, was established in 2019 to support an interactive performance art project produced by Deaf Granny Arts. After 2020 and 2021 event cancellations, we expanded in 2022 and returnied even stronger in 2023. Now we are looking to 2024 and have some space for new campers available.
We have a great mix of crusty veteran burners with years of experience, folks with just a few years burning, and enthusiastic newbies. The camp brings all your water, and provides dinner for everyone at sundown each night. We have a huge shade structure for your tent, a communal kitchen and dining area, support for out-of-towners' bicycles & tents if needed, and a happening lounge with music, a bar, and soft sofas for chill time and good times.
We just ask that everyone take a turn at supporting our art project -- that's why we are here! There are a number of ways to be involved, from erecting the set on site, to working as a stage assistant, to helping get dinner ready, decorating the camp lounge, as well as helping with pre-event work during the Summer. In fact, you can help out pre-event whether or not you are local to us. (We are based in Southern California.) Contact us by email at deafgrannyskitchen (at) gmail (dot) com if you have any questions!
At Burning Man, everyone is a participant -- no spectators. If you are interested in camping with us and helping make Deaf Granny's Kitchen happen, smash the button below and fill out the camper questionnaire. Do this as soon as possible. We are working on logistics now. We look forward to seeing you on the playa!
